The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) continues its preparations for the upcoming general elections. The EOJ has nearly completed the recruitment process for election day workers.
Training and Personnel
Training of the individuals hired to staff the polls is in the final stages. The EOJ is preparing around 30,000 people for the election process. These individuals will fill the roles of presiding officers, poll clerks, reserve supervisors, polling station assistants, and one-day police personnel.
Director of Elections, Glasspole Brown, spoke to The Gleaner about the progress.
The EOJ is now in its final stage of training recruits for the process.
Polling Stations and Identification
Polling station locations have been identified. The number of polling stations will increase for this election compared to the February 2024 Local Government Elections. The number of polling stations has grown from 6,796 in the local government election to 7,350 for the upcoming election. The EOJ also reminds individuals who have not yet picked up their identification cards to visit the EOJ offices in their respective constituencies.
