The Major Investigation Division (MID) is currently probing a double murder that occurred Tuesday night in Mount Salus, St. Andrew. The victims have been identified as Kimani ‘Smuggle’ Hyman, a bar owner, and Romario Trail.

Investigators are exploring the possibility that the motive behind the killings involves stolen illegal firearms. A senior police investigator is working the case.
Community Reaction
Residents claim Romario Trail was an innocent bystander. One resident stated,
“Him never did fi dead. Him innocent.”
Another resident indicated there was a prior attempt to have Hyman return a firearm.
“Di man dem tell him say run back the strap dem and nuh make things get out of hand. Him and the man dem did a link, and him tek the man dem things and nah give di man dem nuh good talk. Dem say dem must kill him, him mother, and his brother.”
An elderly resident mentioned that Hyman had attended his daughter's primary school graduation earlier that day in the Mannings Hill district.
“A yesterday his (Hyman’s) daughter graduate from the primary school out there so and him go and support her. No sooner than when he returned and went to his shop, dem come kill him … . People a go say if dem never mix up them family wouldn’t dead. We don’t want the violence around here, we nuh use to it,”
Authorities believe the issue may originate from a different parish and police division.
Police Response
The St. Andrew North Police Division has reported a 43% decrease in murders as of June 28. However, robberies and break-ins have increased. Police presence in the area will be increased in response to the recent incident.
